Gridlock On Oshodi-Apapa Express Way Lifting Of Fuel Products Resumes

Oil marketers calling off the strike across the nation has led to another major issue on te oshodi-apapa express way.
According to a SOB reader, getting to apapa right now is almost impossible for motorists.Tankers trooped out in large numbers as soon as the strike was called off so they can begin to lift oil products.
Bus drivers nd commuters however decry the inconvinience and risk caused by these tankers as they are now forced to go through 'one way' to get to their destinations.Even okada riders are seen plying the 'one way' road to apapa from mile 2.
It would be recalled that few weeks ago,a number of deaths and accidents was recorded as a result of motorist and okada plying this same 'one way' road.
This mkes one wonder if there would ever be a solution to the cause of motorists ussing the one way road as a means of getting to their destintions.

Ancelotti quits Real Madrid

Real Madrid have confirmed the departure of Carlo Ancelotti after two seasons at the Santiago Bernabéu. Florentino Pérez, the Real president, held a press conference on Monday when it was announced that the 55-year-old Italian is to leave with immediate effect despite having a year of his contract remaining.
Ancelotti, who joined Real from Paris Saint-Germain in June 2013, won the Champions League, Copa del Rey, Uefa Super Cup and the Fifa Club World Cup in his first season. But after being eliminated from the Champions League at the semi-final stage by Juventus and failing to win La Liga, it is understood the former Chelsea manager was informed of his fate in a meeting yesterday.
“Carlo is part of our history because he won the Décima for us,” said Pérez. “But here the demands are very high and we need to give Real Madrid a new push that allows us to reach the level that we want to be. It was a very difficult decision to make. The demands at this club are the utmost because Madrid always wants to win silverware.
“The affection that the players and the fans have for Carlo is the same as the affection I myself have for him.”

FUEL SCARCITY ENDS SOON AS STAKEHOLDERS END STRIKE,BEGIN LIFTING,DISTRIBUTION

Strong indications have emerged that the lingering scarcity of petrol in Lagos and its environs would fizzle out from this weekend as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and major marketers have brought in additional vessels carrying about 96 million litres of petrol to ease the situation. Executive Director in charge of Commercials at the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the NNPC, Mr. Gbenga Komolafe, who confirmed the development to journalists Friday said the NNPC’s three additional vessels, carrying about 110 million litres of petrol and two other vessels belonging to Mobil Oil Nigeria are due to arrive Nigerian waters next  week.
An agreement pledging to pay the outstanding claims of the marketers was signed on behalf of the Government by the Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. It was also agreed that the license of marketers that refuse to lift fuel within six hours should be revoked. Also, the committee is to verify N200 billion MOMAN claimed the government owes its members. If the committee “concludes its verifications of the outstanding claims before the end of the life of this administration, it would be reflected in the handover notes to the new President.
The lingering fuel crisis has paralysed business activities across the nation with several notable firms announcing closure of businesses. The scarcity also raised the pump price of petrol ranging between N200 to N400 per litre with a dramatic increase in transport fares. The Senate had mandated its joint committee on Petroleum Resources (upstream and downstream) to meet with stakeholders including the federal government to find immediate solution to the lingering fuel scarcity in the country.
At last,respite comes to Nigeria.
